LITTLE IS ENOUGH

"What do you have?"
"Just a little oil,"
The prophet's widow cried.
"Enough," he said,
"Go gather vessels
And bring them all inside."

"Not just a few,
Go ask your neighbors
To give you all you need.
Do not return without empty jars--
My God will intercede."

The widow went
Knocking door to door
As she was asked to do,
Obedient
To the Prophet's word
For God to see her through.

She went inside
And shut her door
And then began to pour.
The oil did flow
As she filled each jar
Until there were no more.

The stream of oil
Would no longer flow
When ev'ry jar was full.
The widow knew
That God had performed
For her a miracle.

She sold the oil
And paid all her debts,
With more enough to spare,
And learned that day
That little's enough
When multiplied by prayer.

LIFE'S LESSONS FROM A GARDENER

As side by side we knelt on soil
To sow some tiny seeds,
We prepared the plot for planting
By pulling sprouting weeds.
Unconsciously you prepared my life
Just like we did the soil,
For I learned to grow life's flowers
Would take some pain and toil.
You sowed the seeds of honesty
And seeds of holiness;
You planted flowers of kindness
And shrubs of gentleness.
you placed a pole beside me
To support when I was weak,
And a trellis to grow upright
When direction I would seek.
Through the beauty of a rosebush
Spiked with painful thorn,
As my life unfolded, you would warn,
I'd face some trials and scorn.
Life's lessons from a father
Who had a large green thumb
Has uniquely helped to shape my life
To what I have become.
For who I am I owe to you
And I will always be
A daughter who is grateful
For life's lessons you taught me.

LET ME SING PRAISES

Loosen my tongue to offer praise,
My pen to e'er proclaim,
The glories of our wondrous Lord,
The power of Your Name.

Lend me the parchment of the sky
A scroll from star to star,
That I might evermore declare
The wonder that You are.

Fill my pen with endless ink
That drains the great seas dry;
Forever let my praises be
Inscribed on endless sky.

Though earth and sky cannot contain,
No tongue can e're proclaim,
The honor, glory, majesty,
That's worthy of Your Name.

Allow me still to do my part
Or rocks will shout for joy;
Enlist me in your service, Lord,
My tongue and pen employ.

May I join the little birds
That daily sing your praise;
Uplift and glorify You, Lord,
For never-ending days.

IN GRATITUDE

Your thoughtful act of kindness
Means more than you will know,
And though I searched for adequate words
My gratitude to show,
Just simply saying "thank you"
Does not express the whole
Dimension of my gratitude
O'erflowing from my soul.
For I felt God's loving touch
And His Providential care
In your act of kindness
And now I'm more aware
How God does often bless our lives
Through ones with hearts like you,
And I am veery grateful
For friends like you are few.

I WILL NOT SURRENDER

The battle lines are drawn, Satan's instigated war,
He longs to regain territory occupied before.
Our enemy is prowling, he's seeking to devour,
We wrestle not with flesh but principalities and pow'rs.

We must be on our guard, alert in our watchtower,
For Satan in his wiles will appear in an unknown hour.
He's no match for heavenly arms in God's arsenal,
To fight the battles in the realm of supernatural.

God's given us His Spirit, the power of His Word,
Heaven's armies stand available at call we're assured.
Now at the Name of Jesus, Satan's demons will flee,
They can't resist the power that's released on bended knee.

No, I will not surrender one ounce of sod, you see,
He'll never get a foothold or reclaim a part of me.
The battle rages on and Satan maintains the fight,
Yet he's no match for the One who's the awesome God of Might.

I will not surrender, no matter how hot the fray,
I will wear my suit of armor and daily I will pray;
The helmet of salvation, the belt of truth I'll wear,
And the sword of His Spirit I'll take with me everywhere.

With my breastplate of righteousness secured in its place,
I'll withstand each fiery dart protected by God's grace.
I will not surrender, Satan's lost his fight with me,
For now I belong to the Lord for all eternity.

"Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the power of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm" (Ephesians 6:11-12).

I SURRENDER TO YOUR WILL

I surrender to your will, Oh Lord, whatever lies ahead,
For you've cleared the path before me, and the waay I need not dread.
Though the dark of night enclose me, you will guide each step I take;
By your presence you'll precede me guarding every move I make.

Though my way leads through the wilderness where beasts and serpents live,
If that is the path you choose for me, I know I'm positive--
That your angels will protect me and will guard me from harm's way;
I shall tread upon the serpent--send him scurrying away.

You are a skillful silversmith and with fire you will refine,
Removing dross at any cost so your light in us will shine.
Though the cleansing may be painful, I surrender to your will,
And present a holy vessel for your Spirit to infill.

I PRAY FOR YOU

I pray for you....True friends to walk close beside you
When the uphill road seems so long;
I pray that God's choir sustains you in sorrow,
Encourages with joyful song.

I pray for you....Provision to meet ev'ry need
With leftovers to spread around;
I pray for solutions to life's toughest questions
When answers are hard to be found.

I pray for you....Contentment and peace in the storm
'Til strong winds and dark clouds have passed;
I pray for God's sunshine to brighten your pathway
When trial's dark shadows are cast.

I pray for you....Love to ease every heartache
And soothe the deep hurt in your soul.
I pray for God's presence to counsel and guide you
When you seek His arms to console.

I pray for you....God's healing when life's painful ills
Have left you depleted of strength;
I pray that your days be abundant and many
That extend to life's fullest length.

And because I know that God hears earnest prayers
He said, "Ask and you shall receive."
So reach out and accept each blessing, my friend;
I pray for you....You can believe.
