HOPE'S PATHWAY

Hope's pathway points us heavenward
And it's there sojourners trod,
Ascending to celestial realms
That will always lead to God.

It elevates, uplifts the soul
From the highway of despair
And peaceful song is always heard,
Joyful music fills the air.

The downcast soul sheds grief's dark wrap
As they're dressed in robes of light;
And their mourning turns to dancing
As they leave behind gloom's night.

Hope's Highway all the saints will trod;
A way is provided there.
A road that leads us heavenward
Entered through the gate called prayer.

HOLY BOLDNESS

Though Peter once denied Christ,
He would now gladly proclaim
That God's healing and His pow'r
Only came in Jesus' Name.

Holy boldness to stand up
And to speak so fearlessly
To all those who would question
The miracles men would see.

The power of God's Spirit
Set Peter's captive tongue free
To tell all who would listen,
In spite of adversity.

Ne'er a thought of protection
From any harm he would face,
For the Spirit empowered
Him to boldly share God's grace.

And this same holy boldness
He will now to us impart
To fill us with His power
To proclaim Christ from the heart.

Weakness is transformed to strength
As we share with gentleness,
What we've heard and seen in Christ
With Holy Spirit boldness.

HEAVEN'S ROAD SIGNS

All along the way to Heaven
God has placed His road signs there;
And to point man in the right way,
He has placed them everywhere.

But some signs are oft confusing;
They leave travelers in doubt
Who read the signs and question them,
Wond'ring what they're all about.

For, you see, we are those road signs.
And just what do our signs say
To the lost one on his journey
As he reads our signs today?

Do we point in two directions?
Do actions and words conflict?
Do all we say and what we do
Much too often contradict?

If our road signs are to read clear
That will help one find his way,
We must evermore be mindful
Of the things we do and say.

HEARTS UNITED

Christ unites our hearts from East to West
And He binds with cords unseen.
From the Atlantic to the Pacific
He creates a bridge between.

It's amazing how His Spirit moves,
For our hearts cannot conceive,
And it mystifies our human minds
How His will He does achieve.

He sends His blessings along the way,
And I forever stand amazed
At how He moves to touch my life
And I marvel at His ways.

I see God's hand at work today
In miracles of His grace
And treasure the gift I've found in you
In the friendship we embrace.

No other way that this could be,
For His handiwork I see;
And you are one of God's blessings
That He has given to me.

GOD'S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT

God's grace is sufficient
For each trial that you face.
He'll provide in your valley
A calm resting place.

Like water from a rock,
The Lord's grace will outpour.
You'll find it sufficient
For your peace to restore.

In trials and temptations
The Lord's grace will abound.
His strength will sustain you,
And His love will surround.

His power's made perfect
In your weakness; you'll see,
Christ's grace is abundant
And sufficient for thee.

GOD CARES

When our hearts are torn and wounded,
We grieve and hurt inside;
We often want to run away,
And find some place to hide.

That's when we find God's open arms
So ready to embrace;
His Love pours out and bathes our soul
With His amazing grace.

With a broken heart so painful;
God knows the hurt you feel.
But as He holds you close at heart,
Your deepest hurt will heal.

God's healing oil so freely poured
Anoints with soothing balm,
And bathes each hurt, restores to us
A tranquilizing calm.

God has promised to be with us,
Give shelter from the rain;
Just run to Him, you'll find that He
Will soothe your deepest pain.

Find solace that God cares for you,
Trust Him and you will see
He'll turn your painful scars to stars
To shine for all to see.

FROM THE MASTER'S POINT OF VIEW

As one man walked into the forest
And saw a weather-beaten tree,
He said, "This tree's not worth very much.
It will make good kindling for me."

A second man came along the way,
But his eyes saw differently.
He said, "This ia a mighty fine tree.
What a masterpiece it will be!"

It was the same tree, yet each man looked
From a different point of view.
One man saw only a rugged tree;
The other saw inside what grew.

For the man who saw the true beauty
Was a Master Craftsman by trade.
He only saw the treasure inside
The lovely tree that God had made.

Let's look in others for the treasure
That is often veiled from our view;
So that we, like our Master Builder,
Will see beauty in others, too.

FOREVER FRIENDS

While acquaintances may come and go,
A true friendship never ends.
For where Christ indwells and fills our heart,
He will bind forever friends.

For true Christian friends are family,
Our Father is God above;
And no earthly friendship can compare
With His pure amazing love.

And though death's vale may separate us,
No distance can come between,
For Christ secures and entwines true friends
With eternal cords unseen.

We must cherish each forever friend
As a tresasure to hold dear,
For we will spend our eternity
With forever friends made here.

EMBRACING THE FACE OF GRACE

We often seek to know God's mind,
We study theology;
We reach to grasp hold of His hand,
For new strength to cope daily.

We want to follow his footprints
As step by step He leads,
We beckon for His list'ning ear
To daily meet our needs.

But it is the face of Jesus
With His compassionate smile,
That I desire to hold closely
And just nestle for a while.

To feel exhale of gentle breath
As He draws me very near;
And listen to endearing words
As he whispers in my ear.

True intimacy with Jesus
Is my one true heart's desire;
To seek His face and know his love
Is an all-consuming fire.

It is here I find contentment
When I'm locked in Love's embrace,
Nestled in gentle arms of Peace,
Embracing the face of Grace.

DRINKING FROM THE WELL OF HOPE

I'm drinking from the Well of Hope
That never will run dry.
Christ bids me come and drink from him.
There's always a supply.

His everlasting waters quench
My drought of doubt and fears;
Whenever I drink from this well
My anguish disappears.

The wellspring of eternal joy
Supplies an endless flow.
And every time I drink from Him
An inner peace I know.

I gulp the water 'til I'm full.
His grace, it tastes so sweet!
Renewed, restored, I've been made whole
Life's drought has found defeat.

ETERNALLY GRATEFUL

God said, "I need a gardener,
Someone to sow my Word.
I need someone to plant the seed
Till ev'ryone has heard."

Because you've said, "I'll sow the seed,"
Our God has made them grow.
Now we've become a garden here;
Each day God's love we show.

God prepared and He tilled each heart,
But you have sown the seeds.
You've taught God's truth and lived your lives
By all your words and deeds.

You've sown good seeds--replaced the weeds;
Ev'ry heart's now abloom.
The fragrance of our garden here
Is like a sweet perfume.

Look around you now. You will see
Beauty from seeds you've sown.
Look around you now. You will see
God's garden here He's grown.

Eternally we'll be grateful;
Your lives we do applaud,
For our hearts are now a garden
Since you said, "Yes" to God.

DO YOU WANT TO BE BLESSED?

There was a man full of wisdom
And many would draw near.
They'd often come to listen, for
Wise counsel they would hear.

"Tell me. Do you want to be blessed?"
One day they heard him say.
"Open your hand and hold these coins
I'm giving you today."

Well some only received little,
While others received much.
And he watched them as they counted
Each coin that they would touch.

He said, "Now, turn to your brother
And give your coins away.
Freely received, now freely give,"
They heard the wise man say.

While some hands then gladly opened
And gave each coin away.
Some others gave reluctantly
Their coins received that day.

Now the wise man watched each giver,
Each hand as coins they passed.
They wondered what was on his mind
And so he spoke at last.

"While some of you so freely gave,
Your hands were opened wide,
Still others gave begrudingly.
Some coins you tried to hide."

"Give generously to others
Without a greedy heart,
For God will fill your opened hands;
His blessings He'll impart."

"Tightfisted hands cannot receive
God's blessings from above.
He seeks to find hands opened wide
To grasp His gifts of love.

DO NOT WEEP FOR ME

If you could only see me now
You'd never shed a tear;
If you could only listen to
The melodies I hear,
You'd never wish for my return,
You'd never ask God, "Why?"
For there's no pain or sorrow here,
No tears to dim the eye.
Just lasting peace and perfect joy
Unlike I've ever known ~
And oh the glory I have seen
As I look to Heaven's throne.
For there is Christ, my Lord and King,
With arms outstretched to me;
Who says, "My child I'm glad you're home,
I've waited patiently.
Now He enfolds me in His love,
I worship at His feet.
Oh glorious amazing grace
Flows from his mercy-seat.
So do not mourn or weep for me ~
Please do not despair;
For with the joy God fills my heart
There's nothing to compare.
I'll wait for God to call you home
And one day we will be
Together never more to part
For all eternity.

DANGLING BY A THREAD OF HOPE

When dangling o'er life's precipice
By a thin, fine thread of hope,
We tightly grasp with the gift of faith
That God endows to cope.

The world stands quiv'ring at the sight,
List'ning to each prayerful call,
Doubting the strength of the thread will hold,
That surely we will fall.

But the world does not comprehend
All the strength in hope's small strand;
As we grab the thread with faith's tight grasp,
Our weight it will withstand.

No sooner than we're left to hang
Embracing the strand of hope,
Our feet stand firm on The Solid Rock
That strengthens us to cope.

Hope's woven thread is by God's hands,
It's always within our grasp.
And it's dangling closely overhead;
In trust, it we must clasp.

Seen only by the eyes of faith
When we're dangling in the breeze,
Hope lifts us up to The Solid Rock
Putting our hearts at ease.

CARRY YOUR CROSS

So many like to follow Christ
To dine on fish and bread;
To have their fleshly cravings met,
Their earthly hunger fed.

But Jesus said, "Pick up your cross.
Die to self. Follow me.
Whoever wants to save his life
Must lose his life for Me."

"Sacrifice your carnal cravings;
Nail them to your cross.
Your treasures and your worldly gain,
Count them all as loss."

"For whosoever loses all
Will reap abundantly
Rich treasures stored in Heaven's vault
For all eternity."

And when the cross has weighed you down,
And seems too much to bear,
I'll even help to share the load
When you call to Me in prayer.

What will you gain if you obtain
The world and its control?
If in the end you have exchanged
All for your very soul.

ALMIGHTY MEEKNESS

Almighty Meekness was portrayed
As Christ hung from the cross;
Though badly beaten and harshly scorned,
He counted it as loss.

Compassion poured out with His blood
That freely flowed in pain;
Forgiveness oozed out from his heart
That cleansed each guilty stain.

"Father, forgive them!" was His cry,
"They know not what they do."
Rain Your mercy from this cross
That they may soon find You.

Amazing grace, the humble Lamb
Hung freely on the tree;
Almighty Meekness chose to die
To ransom you and me.

A PROVIDENTIAL PROMISE

God said, "The plans I have for you are to prosper and to bless,
They're nev'r to harm or e'er alarm but to crown you with success.
There's hope to see you day by day o'er each trial that comes your way;
And a future blessed with wisdom and My ever-present stay."

You have a Providential promise that's sealed by the Divine;
A sure promise for your future that's of heavenly design.
He'll never leave you nor forsake you, of this you can be sure.
And though sun and moon and stars will fade, His promise will endure.

So when the darkness of the night tries to rob you of your hope,
Remember He is always near to renew your strength to cope.
He is working all things for your good according to His plan
That He designed with you in mind before time ever began.

Just rest safely on His promise and stand firmly on His word,
For when clouds of doubt stand all about, His presence is assured.
His Providential promise is to give you a hope and rest.
And a future that is only blessed with Heaven's very best.

"'For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. 'Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future'" (Jeremiahs 29:11).

A PARADISE FROM TWO

Everywhere the man would go
His flower seeds he'd sow.
Another came and watered them,
And God would make them grow.

They never saw the flowers bloom;
They'd only stop to pray
That they would add some beauty
To some travelers on their way.

But many souls who came behind
Were awed by the display
And thanked God for some unknown men
Who had only passed their way.

Inspired, they knelt to breathe a prayer.
"Father, may we sow, too?"
We want to leave along our path
Beauty that points to You."

So many took to sowing seeds,
A paradise was made,
God's glory witnessed far and near
On every hill and glade.

We, just like them, can sow love's seeds,
Pour water's mercy, too.
We'll make our world a paradise.
It starts with me and you.
