A LESSON FROM JERICHO

The wall was strong and mighty,
"There's no way to get in,"
So the soldiers thought in Jericho
Who watched with a smirky grin.

The Israelite soldiers marched and marched
Around the wall each day
While the soldiers peered from atop the wall
In complete and utter dismay.

"What are they doing?
Do they think that they
Can bring these mighty walls down?"
Said the haughty men of Jericho
As they watched from higher ground.

Then on day seven you could hear the count,
Excitement stirred within,
"They've passed this way once before.
Now here they come again!"

"One...two...three...four...five...six...seven,
They've finally stopped at last."
But then behold the air was filled
With the sound of trumpet blasts.

The ground began to tremble,
The walls began to shake,
As Joshua was heard to shout aloud,
"The city is ours to take."

The walls like cookies crumbed
As the Jericho soldiers gasped.
When Joshua gave the battle call,
They knew they'd breathed their last.

For God was with His children
In all His power and might,
And He gave strength and victory
To the faithful Israelites.

The mighty wall of Jericho
Which once stood straight and tall
Reminds us that the Lord above
Is truly Lord of all.

We must not question His commands
But trust Him and obey,
And all the walls that Satan builds
Will crumble just like clay.
