ON THAT RESURRECTION MORNING

The dry seed snuggled comfortably
In the dark moist soil so deep,
Comforted by the rain-soaked earth,
'Twas lulled into a deep sleep.

But then one day he awakened
To find there had been a change;
No longer was he brown and rough,
His appearance looked so strange.

From rough and brown to soft and green,
From darkness to bright sunlight,
From death beneath the blackened earth
To arise to awed delight.

He knew not when the day he fell
From bough of the lofty tree
That he'd return to life again
O'erlooking Gethsemane.

The lone tree grew tall and stately,
Lending shade in heat of day,
And one day Jesus knelt to pray
As He passed along his way.

He prayed that all would find new life
And that all would clearly see
How one could, like this small brown seed,
Emerge so gloriously.

From death to life abundantly,
From darkness to brightest light,
On that resurrection morning
We'll soar to heavenly height.

As the dry brown seed gave new birth
By dying beneath the sod,
So we'll arise from death one day
To find our new life in God.
