Oh, Lord, I want to step outside
Of the safety of my boat,
And take a daring leap of faith
Trusting I will stay afloat.
Above doubt’s waves that toss and turn
And will try my heart to fail,
When focused on my Savior’s eyes,
In Your strength I will prevail.
I’d rather step out of my boat
Where it takes true faith to trod,
Than miss the blessings I’ll receive
Water walking with You, God.
For when I stay within my boat,
Then my faith will never grow.
I’d rather step out on the waves
Where the faithful dare to go.
For nothing is impossible
When my eyes remain on You,
Listening as Your voice says, “Come,
Watch what I through you will do.”
When doubters say, “You can’t go there.
It’s never been done before.”
I’ll tell them as I leave my boat,
“I will meet you on the shore.”
A water walker I will be;
I will trust You as I pray
And leave my boat of safety, Lord,
As I walk in faith today.
