THE TREE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Christ is the Tree of Righteousness;
Our hearts become His sod.
And when the holy root sinks deep,
We bear the fruit of God.

The ripened fruit of gentleness,
Love, joy and patience, too,
The fruit of peace and self-control,
Hang visibly in view.

Kindness, goodness, and faithfulness
Lend beauty to the eye.
The fruit it bears is sweet to taste;
That none will e'er deny.

Though winds of tribulation come,
The fruit will hold secure.
In the midst of the fiercest storm,
Its roots will fasten sure.

While other trees around may fall,
This tree will stand the test.
The one who bears God's righteous fruit,
His life is truly blest.
