THE GIFT (Encouragement)

The man searched for the perfect gift
Within The Blessing Store.
He had given jeweled treasures;
This time it must be more.

Carefully he walked each isle
To choose a special gift
That would give a discouraged soul
A very special lift.

Finally, he did make his choice
As he pointed to the clerk
And he smiled with great assurance
As she quickly went to work.

She gaily wrapped the package
And tied it with a bow.
As he left with his new treasure
His face was all aglow.

He hurried on to share his gift.
He couldn't wait to see
When the package would be opened
What her response would be.

He handed her his humble gift
And her eyes did dance with glee.
She held it very carefully.
What could it possibly be?

When all the wrapping was removed
She held the precious content.
'Twas what she needed most of all--
The gift of encouragement.

The box was filled with kindly words
Her heart did long to hear.
Words that edified her soul;
A gift she would endear.

The gift that he had given her
Did also bless him too.
For encouragement we give away
Blesses also me and you.
