HEAVEN'S LIGHT (Christmas Poem)

The purest light from Heaven descended as a child,
And all angelic hosts above proclaimed man reconciled.
"Peace on earth, good will to men--Glory to God on high!"
The angel choir resounded praise that filled the starry sky.

Christ was born in Bethlehem--the long-awaited King;
Their anthem swelled to fill the air, glad praises they did sing.
Shepherds watching flocks by night, enthralled by Heaven's song,
Were captivated by the sight of this angelic throng.

Hastily they made their path to welcome our new king;
The Light and Hope of all the world--salvation He would bring.
By the hay-filled throne they knelt amazed and filled with awe
Of all their eyes had witnessed there--grand miracles they saw.

They left their sanctuary forevermore transformed,
Reflecting there amongst themselves how they were strangely warmed.
This light from God filled their hearts, transcending human joy,
And oh the hope that God had wrapped up in this baby boy.

Good news--"The Light's finally come!"--the shepherds they did cry.
They ran to share the blessed news--
"Salvation draweth nigh!"
